Utopia, anyone?

More says that during Raphael's narrative that he thought of "various objections." Did you find the laws and customs "perfectly ridiculous" as well? Which, in particular? Did you find any that you would like to see adopted in the United States?

I found the idea of everyone wearing the same clothes and only being allowed to own one garment crazy. Another thing that I thought was crazy was the idea of all the houses being the same with all the backyards facing a garden. Both of those ideas, to me, make for a boring atmosphere. I did like the idea of everyone working and maintaining the food supply. It gave everyone a job to do, be it farming or fixing the machinery. Another thing that I liked is the fact that everyone had a place to live. If there was a job that did not involve experience or education, then most of the homeless would be able to put a roof over their heads instead of living on the streets. Poor people, especially single- uneducated mom's would not have to worry about feeding their children and being on the welfare system that provides help with housing. The government would have extra money since we as a nation would no longer need government assistance programs for food and shelter

Alicia, I agree with you about adopting the idea of switching jobs every two years for the unemployed or teenagers. This would allow them a variety to choose from so that they would be better equiped to make a decision for their futures. then there would bea skilled labor force and no longer the unemployed.
